photo journalism

Henri cartier brasson
August 22nd, 1908.

as a french photographer considered to be the father of modern photojournalism.

photo journalism was born in chaos of war. Henri's photos were about being in the right place at the right time. photographers pounce on the second of an event. Henri developed street photography or real life photos which has influenced photographers after him.

 the desisve moment
Henri photographed a picture of a man jumping over a broken weel. It was one of the greatest photos since the 20th century. It was captured as he was in the air, seconds later or ago would of been complete different photographs.

the leica camera

Henri was known for using only one camera, a Leica rangefinder, and one lens, a 50mm, for almost all of his life's work. This allowed him to focus his attention so that he always knew exactly what would be in his frame without needing a viewfinder. He could walk the streets, draw his camera up to his eye and shoot, all in one smooth, unobtrusive motion.
